Reddit writing prompt: Native Americans are able to push back the European colonization

“Father.” The young man nervously ran his fingers over his scalp, then tugged at the edge of his black braid. It was a nervous habit he developed as a child and it came out whenever he was telling a lie or nervous to tell the truth. This was the latter situation.

“Yes, my nukatpialugruak?” The elder drew out the word with a fondness. Though his son was eighteen, he was already a man, soon to be married, but he was still his youngest boy and was doted upon as such.

The youth’s eyes darted nervously, not wanting to get ensnared in his father’s watchful gaze. “It’s.. the foreigners. The tanik. They’ve come.”

His father’s face grew stormy and his hands gripped the arms of his creaky wooden chair. A log shuddered in the fiery hearth, as if it was overwhelmed by the sudden anger that filled the room. “Take me.”

Reddit writing prompt: Good Boy, Bad Man

I am Boy. I am a Dog. I love my Human so much.

Human is Good Man, even though I am often Bad Dog.

“Bad Dog!” he screams at me, kicking me in the side.

“I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry,” I bark, but he does not understand.

“Shut up!” Then, he hits me. This is how I learn to never chew on shoes, even though they look so much like my rubber toys.

“Bad Dog!” he yells. It hurts when he slaps my head.

Reddit Writing Prompt: Kim Jong Un and the Genie

The news trended on Facebook within minutes of the stealthy cell phone pictures that were smuggled out by a Saudi attaché were posted on the site. It eclipsed exciting stories of Kanye West, political drama, and whatever Middle Eastern country had yet another bombing. All the rest of the world was fixated on the single, blurry, and quite disturbing photo of what was clearly the Great Fat One, er – Great Successor, Kim Jong Un, in the midst of rubbing what appeared to be an oil lamp not dissimilar of a similarly comic one that was featured in Disney’s Aladdin. The ravens arrived, en masse and unexpected. Hundreds must have been dispatched from the Citadel to ensure the dark words were received across the realm, and dozens came just for Maester Dorcas. Their quorking was so loud, the inhabitants of the small village peered out of their windows to watch the black-winged messengers cluster around the Maester’s tower.
